We are a volunteer group that runs the bookstore collectively and work together to operate the store, organize events, and create a space where reading, learning, and speaking with each other enriches our lives and builds strong relationships with our city and each other.

We believe that capitalism is a system of organizing life that is based on exploitation, violence, and robbery. We are working together to build another way of life, bit by bit.

Riot Act Books does not have any owners, and all the money we make from sales is reinvested into our space, our inventory, and toward supporting the projects of other groups.

Our project is devoted to the freedom and self-determination of all people. We are part of a broader working class movement to expand our individual and group freedoms and opportunities against supremacy and domination, regardless if that domination is based on race, gender, sexuality, nationality, religion, or simply the worship of state power. Education, joy, and love for each other are our foundation for being strong enough to stand for these values.

None of us are free until all of us are free.
